About Us

 The Association was formed on the 2nd July 1984 as an action body to voice concern about proposed residential development in Freshwater Bay and other issues pertinent to the area.
The current aim of the Association is to " Safeguard and promote Freshwater Bay ". This is done by acting as a focal point for discussing and disseminating information, by organising social activities within the Bay area and by developing schemes that enhance the area of the Bay.
The Bay is a relatively undeveloped area of the South Coast of England and is a beautiful part of United Kingdom, the Association hopes to keep it that way by opposing unsuitable exploitation. Over the years, through dogged perseverance, there have been some minor and some major successes.
Without the efforts of residents' associations there would not be representation of local opinion, a lot less would be accomplished and more planning disasters would take place.

Membership is open to those that reside in the following streets:

The Committee meets on ten occasions each year, with three of these being Public meetings plus one AGM. The Public meetings are usually held at the United Reform Church Hall in Guyers Road. The AGM is usually followed by wine and cheese, with guest speakers following the other public events. Please click on the Meetings tab above for more information.

There is a wooden box in Orchards shop for any mail and the payment of subscriptions.
